Sister to former Justice Minister Raphael Kasambara has been confirmed dead at Zomba Central Hospital after collapsing while visiting her brother at Zomba maximum prison.
According to information sourced by this publication, Kasambara’s sister Cecilia on Monday went to visit her brother at Zomba prison where he is serving a 14 years jail sentence for conspiracy to murder former Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo.
It is said that Kasambara’s condition at prison shocked her and she suddenly collapsed due to high blood pressure.
“Her BP short very high making her go into comma. She was operated in the head where blood clots were removed. Today at noon, Cecilia Kasambara breathed her last,” wrote Gerald Mzaza Nkhata.
The Archdiocese of Blantyre have also confirmed of the death of Kasambara’s sister who belonged to the Small Christian Community of Saint Bakhita in Nkolokosa under St Pius X Catholic Parish in Blantyre.
According to the statement posted on ‘I am a Catholic and I am Proud’ Facebook page, the Archdioce of Blantyre said body of the late Mrs Chirwa will be taken to Nkhata bay for burial today.
She was Secretary of the Blantyre Chapter and Vice National Secretary of Friends of Ugandan Martyrs – Abwenzi a Amalitiri a ku Uganda.
