Expelled Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament for Salima Central Felix Jumbe has insisted that he will remain in the party despite being relocated to the independent benches in the National Assembly.

Jumbe was expelled in MCP by the Party President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in August this year for allegedly causing commotion in the party.

On Monday, Speaker of the National Assembly Richard Msowoya relocated Jumbe to independent benches after receiving a letter from MCP disowning him.

Speaking in an interview with one of the privately owned radio MIJ fm, Jumbe said he accepted the relocation for the sake of peace in the National Assembly and the Party.

Jumbe also faulted the Speaker for accepting the request from MCP, saying he was an interested party since he remained the MCP vice –president.

When asked as to whether is having any plans of dishing the Party to join the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as speculated in the social media, Jumbe said he has never thought of dishing the Party but some top officials in the Party are against him.

Meanwhile MCP top officials are yet to comment on the matter.
