Police in the north have arrested two people on suspicion they were running a bogus secondary school bursary scheme that has now left over 700 learners stranded.

The learners were initially withdrawn from various government and private schools and re-enrolled in some elite private schools in the northern region after paying a sum of 35, 000 kwacha each as bursary registration fee.

The two suspects Mr. Harold Saka 31 and Mr. Thomas Nyirenda 41, were netted at Ekwendeni after the school owners logged a complaint to police for non-payment of school fees under the bogus bursary scheme.
