President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Tuesday braved the harsh weather and joined former President Dr. Bakili Muluzi in mourning the death of his first born daughter Esmie Muluzi Malisita who died on Monday.

Malisita was struck by lightning at a garden at Mpemba in Blantyre on Monday together with her friend Hazel Busile.

President Mutharika accompanied by the First Lady visited Muluzi family in Naperi to personally “console and to comfort” Muluzi and the bereaved family.

Mutharika described the death of the two as a big blow to the family of Muluzi and Busile.

Malisita until her death, was a member of the board of directors for Joy Media Group – the operators of Joy FM radio and Joy TV.

Muluzi-Malisita will be laid to rest on Friday at Kapoloma Village in Machinga while her friend was laid to rest on Tuesday at Catholic Institute (CI) cemetery in Blantyre.
