Police in Mangochi are keeping in custody three men identified as Smart Jangiya Mandala, 31, of Mpembena village Trational Authority Chimwala in Mangochi and Charles M’bwana, 35, of Mdenga Traditional Authority Kalembo in Balaka and 44 year-old Rashid Maloko for Robbery with Violence.
The suspects went to the house of Imran Yusufu, an Indian National who ply his businesses at Mangochi boma, while armed with panga knives and axes on November 24, 2016 at around 1900 hours.
The three together with their accomplices, who are still at large, demanded money from Yusuf and threatened to kill him and his family if he resisted.
The robberers went away with K2.5 million cash, a laptop and Samsung galaxy S4 mobile phone.
The matter was reported to police and investigations were instituted which led to the arrest of the three.
Police have also managed to recover K273,500 cash and the laptop from the suspects.
The three will appear before court soon to answer charges of Robbery with Violence contrary to Section 301 of Penal Code.
