As Malawians across the country are still in Christmas mood, information reaching faceofMalawi indicates that a fake MK2, 000 is on the market.
The development comes barely a week after the Reserve Bank of Malawi through its governor Charles Chuka introduced the new MK2000 banknote dubbed ‘Chi Trump’, named after the newly elected President of United States of America Donald Trump.
According to a photo posted by Billy Mayaya’s official facebook page, the fake bank note holographic foil strip which is the shiny vertical line at the far left end is not shiny as the real banknote.
The fake banknote also lacks the sparkling live image of fish that deliverers colour changing on the front side which is shiny.
Apart from that, the fish image is faded on the fake banknote while that of the genuine one shines.
Meanwhile RBM governor has warned Malawians to be alert of the fake banknote and report anyone if found tampering with the new note.
