Sheriffs on Friday impounded two vehicles from Karonga district council for failing to pay K4 million loan to one the business tycoon in the district, Maclean Silwamba.
Officials from Karonga District Council confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).
According to the official, the sheriffs impounded Toyota Prado registration number KA 2651 belonging to the District Commissioner and Land Cruiser registration number MG 560 AJ which was donated by the MASAF 4.
Information sourced by this publication indicates that the District Council has been playing hide and seek games with the business tycoon all this while over the said money which was being obtained dubiously.
The development forced the business tycoon to hire sheriffs from Mzuzu after successfully obtaining a court order to impound the said two vehicles.
Meanwhile Karonga District Council has successfully paid the loan.
