Two criminals impersonating police officers rescued from angry mob in Blantyre

Police in Blantyre on Sunday rescued two suspected criminals from mob justice for impersonating police officers.

Southern Region police spokesperson Ramsey Mushani confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying the incident happened in Lirangwe Township.

According to Mushani, the two suspects went to business persons in the area demanding money.

But the business tycoon got suspicious of the two, he alerted members of the community who later apprehended them.

The irate mob wanted to burn them alive but police rescued them and slapped them with a charge of impersonating public officers.

Meanwhile the police are investigating the two.
