Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Mzuzu City Leonard Njikho and Msongwe Ward Councillor Judith Chiumia are in hiding over mayoral polls.

According to information at hand, the DPP youth cadets are hunting for the blood of the two, accusing them of betraying the Party in the mayoral polls which saw opposition People’s Party (PP) Councillor William Mkandawire emerging victorious.

The Party went into the polls with five votes, one from Njinkho and four from its Councillors within the City of Mzuzu.

But DPP candidate by the name of Yona Mkandawire only got three votes, forcing the cadets to go on rampage after the polls.

Njinkho confirmed of the development in interview with the press, saying his life in danger.

On her part, Chiumia said she is seeking refuge at Police in Mzuzu.

Effort to talk to DPP’s Northern region governor Kenneth Sanga proved futile.

Meanwhile political analysts have described the move taken by DPP cadets both from the north and Central region as barbaric.
