Police in Machinga have arrested a 25-year-old primary school teacher at Mchirima for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old Standard 8 learner Faceofmalawi has learnt.
Machinga Police spokesperson, Davie Sulumba, identified the suspect as Umali James Kambona of Sawawa Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Chamba in the district.
He said on January 8, 2017, the father of the victim reported to police complaining that his daughter has been impregnated by the suspect.
Kambona is expected to appear in court soon to answer defilement charges contrary to section 138 of the penal code.
