Afro-Soul reknowned gospel musician and producer ‘Lawi’, real name Francis Phiri on Saturday joined his fellow gospel musician Faith Mussa in shunning Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church founder Prophet Bushiri’s symposium organized by Christian Youth Association of Malawi (CYAMA).
CYAMA invited Lawi, well-known poet Robert Chiwamba and Faith Mussa to spice up the business symposium which was held under the theme “With entrepreneurship I won’t be the same” but Mussa and Chiwamba pulled out of the event at an early stage.
Most of the youth who filled Robins Park had hope that Lawi is going to perform at the event considering the fact that the poster which was placed inside the hall and the programme which was seen by FaceofMalawi reporter indicated that the celebrated musician is going to perform.
Participants at the event kept on waiting until the guest speaker Prophet Bushiri entered the hall in a pomp, attracting ululations from his followers.
Before imparting his business knowledge to the audience, Bushiri distanced the symposium from what others said it was political gathering, saying it was Christian youths symposium.
“I may not a professor of business management, but I believe I possess a certain knowledge and experience in this field that I feel my fellow Malawian Christian youths can learn and get inspired from,” he said.
Bushiri said he will continue sponsoring the youths in the country.
