Police in the capital Lilongwe has yet again extended bail for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) three top official accused of treason to June 30, 2017 pending thorough investigations on the matter, faceofMalawi can reveal.

The three are suspended MCP spokesperson Jessie Kabwila who is also Member of Parliament for Salima, Peter Chakwantha and Ulemu Msungama.

Speaking in an interview after appearing before the Police on Tuesday, Kabwila expressed her disappointment over the Police action, saying it’s a violation of human rights.

Kabwila and Msungama have since applied for judicial review on the matter summoning Inspector General of Police (IG) and Attorney General (AG) to question their decision to arrest them without evidence.

Judicial Spokesperson Mlenga Mvula confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying the judicial review case will date back in court on February 14, 2017.

When asked as to why the case is taking long, Mvula said there is no any delay in the case.

In February last year, the three were arrested over a WhatsApp discussion that the police said was seditious.
