People working in shops owned by Malawians of Asian origin in Limbe this morning went on strike demanding fulfilment of a salary increment pledge which their bosses made two years ago.
According to information gathered by FaceofMalawi reporter, while some shop owners managed to fulfil their pledges others have not done so and that prompted the affected workers to put down their tools.
The workers marched in the streets of Limbe holding placards and closed all shops that were open making sure all shops remained closed.
An attempt to speak to chairperson for the workers proved futile as he is currently out of the country, according to Charles Howa, a shop worker at Osman.
