Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has suspended its Councillor for Ntosa ward in Nkhotakota for allegedly expressing interest to contest for Parliamentary seat in the constituency in the forthcoming 2019 general election.
Fredrick Kachembwe who is MCP’s Chairperson in the district has confirmed of the suspension, saying the councillor and as Samson Kaziputa operating under independent.
According to Kachembwe, the Party is not against Kaziputa’s decision but it’s too early for him to declare his candidature considering the fact the constituency that Kaziputa is planning to contest is under MCP MP Everson Makowa Mwale.
Kachimbwe said Kaziputa’s decision is a breach of Party’s laws.
On his part, Kaziputa confirmed of his suspension but he said he is still an MCP Councillor.
