Police in the capital Lilongwe have finally arrested opposition Peoples Party (PP) Interim President Uladi Mussa.
Mussa is being accused of abusing his office when he was Minister of home affairs and internal security by being directly involved in issuing passport and citizenships to some foreign nationals.
On Monday morning, Mussa handed himself to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) headquarters in the capital Lilongwe for questioning.
According to an eyewitness, Mussa who was being represented by lawyer Paul Maulidi spent close to two hours at ACB offices before being taken to Lilongwe area 3 police station.
When asked to confirm the arrest of Mussa, ACB Public Relations Officer Egrita Ndala said she is not aware of the development.
“I have not been officially communicated to about the whole issue but if your saying he has left our offices in an ACB vehicle then probably he is being taken to court,” she said.
Meanwhile our reporter is following the police vehicle carrying Mussa.
