Former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) spokesperson Jessie Kabwila who is also Member of Parliament for Salima North West constituency has faulted the party for kicking her out of the National Executive Committee (NEC), saying procedures were not followed.

Kabwila was fired together with lawmaker Joseph Njobvuyalema from the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in February this year.

The two were accused of having a hand in the botched torching the MCP’s headquarters in the capital Lilongwe last year.

Speaking during a political rally in her constituency on Thursday, Kabwila said that party has no powers to fire anyone from the party.

“I was appointed into the NEC though the Party’s convention and it’s the same convention that can decide my fate,” said Kabwila.

Comment on Kabwila’s clams, MCP Second Deputy Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka said Kabwila is a cry baby.

MCP witnessed internal political bickering that hatched from alleged poor leadership of the party’s president Lazarus Chakwera.

The political wrangles saw the party’s headquarters facing an attack by fellow members who opposed the leadership style of Chakwera.
