The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) through Senior Public Relations Officer, Egrita Ndala has turned down the request of Civil Societies to probe Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Lazarus Chakwera over the source of funding of his projects.
Over past weeks Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) demanded ACB to probe Malawi Congress Chakwera over his magnificent house in Lilongwe.
Speaking in interview recently, Ndala said the CSOs has no tangible evidences for ACB to act upon over Chakwera’s Mansion and they may have to present an official complaint to the board.
“We don’t see the request of CSOs holds any water, they should come up enough evidences and write us officially,” She said.
In reacting to the response of ACB, the chairman of civil Societies Oliver Nakoma, said they already laid their complaint officially to ACB and they should just re-visit it.
“Actually we are not sure what ACB mean when they say we should write them officially over the matter, we already did, they should just revisit our complaint to see,” he said.
Despite the fact that Chakwera is not in ruling government, CSOs believe any political figure should be checked up in order to end corruption in the Country.
Meanwhile, Chakwera said he is ready for any kind of investigation over the source of income for building his new Mansion that has raised eyebrows.
