Classes ended prematurely at Makhetha Primary School in Blantyre on Wednesday following a fracas that erupted after the school’s head teacher was reported to have severely beaten a pupil who in the end collapses.

According to information at hand, the headmaster was trying to discipline for pupil who was caught red handed selling popcorn in class.

The news did not please the community members who retaliated by invade the school seeking a revenge.

The angry mob destroyed school properties.

It took the intervention of the Police to calm down the situation by firing teargas to disperse the angry mob.

The police also whisked away all the teachers to their offices in Limbe for their safety.

Limbe Police Deputy Spokesperson, Widson Nhlane confirmed of the development in an interview with the press but could not disclose what exactly happened at the scene.

Meanwhile no one has been arrested in connection to the fracas.
