Relatives delayed the burial ceremony of a witchdoctor popularly known as Dr Kumpolota whom they thought he would resurrect as they claimed it was his tendency to die and then resurrect after a few days.
The deceased, Dr Kumpolota whose full name is Edward Nthini died over the weekend but his relatives kept the news of his death as a secret hoping he would resurrect after a couple of days.
Commenting on the matter, Mr. Christopher Nkhoma who is the nephew to the deceased said, “The deceased died on Saturday but we were hesitating to spread the message thinking that he will do as usual as he used to be as if he has collapsed and took time to come back to normal.”
This time he did not wake up as usual and relatives agreed to bury him on Wednesday.
On Wednesday during his burial, many people came with different perceptions waiting to see magic things happening but unfortunately nothing strange happened.
The witchdoctor warned when he was still breathing that no one should drop even a tear during his funeral and so was the case at his burial as everybody had kept quiet even those who were closer to him.
The deceased was born in 1940 and he ventured in his career in 1972.
He hailed from Khuyu village, Traditional Authority Mkumpha in Likoma Island.
He has survived by 9 children and 50 grandchildren.
