National police spokesperson, James Kadadzera has confirmed the arrest of 17 men in connection with a mentally challenged woman who undressed herself in Limbe last Thursday.

The woman was sexually harassed by the vendors in Limbe Township  to the extent that some were playing with her private parts while others were taking nude pictures of her.

Those arrested over this case will appear in court soon to answer the charges of conduct likely to cause breach of peace and indecent assault contrary to section 137(1) of the penal code.

Meanwhile, police have condemned the act.

“Police joins all in condemning those who took part in degrading the modesty of this woman. Every person in Malawi including the mentally challenged have a right to privacy,” Kadadzera said.
