Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) student hanged himself to death in Ndirande on Wednesday after being involved in an accident with a family car.
Blantyre Police Public Relations Officer, Elizabeth Divala confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the deceased as Daniel Munthali.
Divala said the deceased hit a wall as he was trying to reverse the car registration number SA6814, a Toyota Sprinter Vintage.
According to Divala, the deceased was afraid of his parents after the accident.
“Daniel Munthali committed suicide after damaging a family car instead of apologizing to his parents.
“However, the matter was brought to the police by the deceased father, Griffin Munthali after finding his son dead with a suicide note asking for forgiveness from the father,” said Divala.
According to Divala, results of postmortem conducted on the deceased showed that death was due to suffocation.
Munthali hailed from Pyolanzimbi Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chikulamayembe in Rumphi district.
