Police in Bangwe have arrested four people in connection to a robbery at Bangwe People’s Trading Centre (PTC) shop that took place on March 18,2017 in Blantyre.
Speaking with the Malawi News Agency (MANA) on Monday, Limbe Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Widson Nhlane confirmed the arrests but could not disclose the identities of the suspects saying that would jeopardize investigations which are underway.
“Unknown criminals broke into the mentioned shop during the night of March 18, 2017 and went away with items such as; soap, beer, biscuits and sweets of an undisclosed amount. Investigations were launched immediately, so far 4 suspects have been arrested plus we have recovered some of the stolen items,” he said.
Nhlane said police officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) branch are still on the ground to arrest more suspects and recover all the stolen items.
Meanwhile, police is thanking the members of public for the cordial working relationship that exists between the two parties in fighting crime with the public providing the police with useful tip offs.
