Minibus Owners Association of Malawi (MOAM) has commended the Blantyre City Assembly for commissioning the street lights.

MOAM Secretary General Coxley Kamamnga said this will help to reduce crimes in the city as the robbers will be exposed because of the lights.

“People whose cars have been broken down at night will be able service them as they will be able to see because of the lights,” he said.

Kamanga also said issues of vandalism will be the song of the past.

He further urged the City Assembly to extend the initiative to other cities as well.

The commissioning of the lights was graced by Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa who also thanked the Blantyre City Assembly for coming up with the initiative.
