McDonald Msumba, 49, has died after taking beer on an empty stomach in Nkhatabay.
According to Nkhatabay Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Ignatius Esau, the deceased left his house on 28 March in the morning for Nkhatabay Trading Centre where he started taking the beer.
“In the evening of the same day the deceased left for his home and upon reaching Kambale Village, he asked for a place to sleep and it was offered to him. Unfortunately, the next morning the owner of the house was surprised to see that Msumba was dead,” said Esau.
The matter was reported to the police and together with medical personnel they visited the scene of the incident and after conducting a postmortem it was revealed that the deceased died due to Hypoglycemia-Low Blood Sugar.
McDonald Msumba hailed from Kamwadi Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mkumbira in Nkhatabay District.
Meanwhile the police are appealing to communities to desist from taking strong beer on an empty stomach.
