United Democratic Front (UDF) Balaka North Member of Parliament (MP) Lucius Banda says the ruling party is plotting through chiefs in the district to denounce him on unnamed Television station in the country.
Banda who posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday, March 4 2017 saying that as he is still in Lilongwe doing parliamentary committee work, he received several calls from chiefs in Balaka who claimed to be forced to denounce him in front of TV cameras.
“They were told that if they don’t speak ill about me to the TV crew, they will be fired from their chieftains.
This is being arranged by the district governor of a party in power. I want to assure the innocent chiefs who are being abused, that I understand their situation so well. I also want to let Malawians know that whatever you will see on TV pertaining to this issue is not the truth it is merely aimed at discrediting me as you all know what I am going through,” ends parts of his post.
Recently, Peter Mutharika has accused Banda of being a thorny problem in the relationship between the ruling party and UDF which is suspected to be the cause for this move of deforming him.
Face of Malawi has gathered the several reactions to Banda’s post, here are some of them:
