A Zimbabwean man in Waterfalls, a residential suburb in the south of Harare, went berserk in his house after he said he smelt a used condom.
Stephen Gatsi said when he returned home at midnight he smelt used condoms, which made him to search the house, only to find them stashed in his wife, Charity Chawangoma’s handbag.
He said that he was angered and bashed the woman.
Chawangomba rubbished the used condom claims indicating that she was assaulted because she had denied Gatsi sex.
She told a Mbare magistrate that Gatsi entered the house when she had already retired to bed and wanted to have intercourse with her without approval.
She said she left the bedroom and went to sleep in the lounge. Gatsi followed and then kicked and punched her.
Gatsi was last week fined $50 by a Mbare magistrate for bashing his wife.
