Nine police officers arrested in Karonga for aiding the smuggling of maize as official corruption reaches the climax.
The maize trucks were later impounded by Malawi Defence Force soldiers while crossing the border.
Sub inspector Mphonda who has just been acquitted from theft charges and his interdiction uplifted 2 months ago has also been arrested.
Meanwhile court has ordered government to release the maize trucks which were impounded last month in Chitipa and Karonga.
Court further ordered that the maize be offloaded to warehouses of owners.
