Younger sister and Personal Assistant to former President Dr. Joyce Banda, Cecilia Kumpukwe is this morning appearing before the Lilongwe Magistrate Court to be formally charged.
Kumpukwe was arrested on Tuesday by the police at her house in Chigumula Township in the commercial capital Blantyre.
She is being accused of having a hand in the doctored resignation letter of the country’s vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima.
Banda’s spokesperson Andekuche Chanthunya described the arrest of Cecilia as politically motivated aimed at threatening people with opposing views.
Apart from Kumpukwe, Police also are keeping in custody Stella Assan on similar offence.
