A 60-year-old teacher has collapsed and died while invigilating the students during an exam.
The sad incident which has caused uproar amongst teachers and students happened at the Clapham Secondary School in South Africa.
She was said to have complained of feeling nauseous after which she was taken outside the classroom to the bath room where she sadly collapsed and died.
The Gauteng department of education said it was deeply saddened by the passing away of the teacher.
“The department would like to extend its sincere condolence to the family of the deceased and the entire school community of Clapham Secondary School.
“This is a loss to both the school and the department. However; the department is still conducting further investigation into the matter.
“The educator was a 60 year old who served many years working for the department,” said the department’s head of communication, Oupa Bodibe.
He said the department has sent its psycho-social team to the school to provide trauma debriefing to learners and educators affected by this unfortunate incident.
