The police have arrested Ackson Kalaile Banda (AKB), member of opposition People’s Party (PP) for allegedly having a hand in the fake resignation letter purportedly written by the country’s vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima.
The arrest comes barely weeks after the law-enfocers arrested another PP operative, Stella Asani and former President Joyce Banda’s sister, Cicilia Kumpukwe in connection with the same issue.
According to source, Kalaile was arrested on Thursday in Nkhotakota at his friend’s residence.
When asked to comment on the arrest, National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera denied commenting on the issue.
Meanwhile spokesperson Noah Chimpeni has described the arrest as political.
