Over 150 Malawians who were being held at South Africa’s Lindela Camp awaiting deportation arrived in the country Tuesday.

The deportation of the group leaves 840 Malawians that are still at the camp waiting to be sent back home.

According to the Deputy National Spokesperson for Immigration Wellington Chiponde, 150 more are expected to arrive home today through the same Kamuzu International Airport.

Last year over 200 Malawians were also deported for staying in the rainbow nation illegally.

The deportation follows a meeting which was held between top officials from both Malawi and South Africa to discuss the detention of Malawian refugees in Lindela last year.
