Death has been announced of Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsanje Lalanje constituency Sam Ganda.

Ganda who served as deputy Transport minister during the reign of opposition People’s Party (PP) under President Dr. Joyce Banda has died of cancer in India.

He was elected as an independent member but joined the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) then defected to People’s Party (PP) and rejoined DPP after he won as an independent when he defeated PP’s candidate Lawrence Sitolo.

Ganda has died at the age of 53 and is survived by a wife and 2 children.
