Aljazeera Girls Islamic Primary School head teacher is in Police custody in Mangochi on suspicion that he contravened regulations guiding the proper conduct of national examinations in the ongoing Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) examination.
The suspect, 32-year old Edward Mitepa from Samama Village in T/A Mponda’s area in Mangochi, was arrested Wednesday afternoon when preliminary investigations revealed that he brought unregistered candidates to write national examinations.
Brief facts are that three girls from his school, came to write the examination as external candidates of Mpondasi Primary School in the district.
However, it was discovered that the girls were not registered and were using absentees’ candidate identity cards.
Mitepa, who is awaiting trial, allegedly contravened Maneb (Amendment) Act, 2003, Section 7(a) which states that “Any person who, being involved in the enrolment and registration of candidates for national examinations, fails to comply with, or contravenes, any regulations in relation to the conduct of national examinations, shall be guilty of an off
