S.A Police on Tuesday described the bloodbath they found at a shack in Evaton south of Johannesburg where they discovered the bludgeoned body of a 16-year-old girl.

“Blood stains were seen all over the floor‚ curtains‚ on a rake‚ scissors and knife which was found at the scene‚” said Captain Aubrey Moopeloa.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning. Police were called to the scene‚ allegedly by the girl’s 22-year-old boyfriend.

This was after he had gone to his sister’s house to reportedly confess to the murder‚ said Moopeloa.

When police arrived at the man’s shack‚ shortly after midnight‚ smoke could been seen flowing from under the door.

“The door of the shack was broken open and on entering the police found the lifeless body‚” said Moopeloa.

“A tyre was found on top of a burning heater and as police‚ we suspect that the suspect wanted to burn the shack to avoid arrest and defeat the ends of justice‚” Moopeloa said.

The girl’s grandmother told police they had last seen the girl on Sunday.

They had not opened a missing person’s case.

Meanwhile‚ the suspect was arrested and charged with the murder.
