Police in Rumphi have arrested a 33-year-old man who tried to shoot his ex-wife`s husband, the district`s police publicist Ignatius Esau has confirmed.

Esau said the suspect, identified as Henry Shaba threatened to shoot Kondwani who married the suspect`s ex-wife.

Shaba and his ex-wife had been in marriage for three years but earlier this year, Shaba was divorced and the wife got married to Mhone.

The suspect however was not pleased with this and on Monday he took his gun and went to Chikwina Trading Centre where he approached Mhone with a death threat.

A few minutes later, he was blocked and arrested by members of the community policing and the gun was confiscated.

Shaba hails from Mtalama village, Traditional Authority Mwahenga in Rumphi district.

He is expected to appear in court to answer the charge of threatening violence contrary to section 86 of the penal code.
