Police in Blantyre fired teargas to disperse angry primary school leaners from Mbayani Primary School who took to the street to demonstrate against teachers strike.

The learners brooked the M1 at near Mbayani market causing traffic jam along the road. Some even went further by petting stones at vehicles.

The students were expressing their anger of teachers’ strike which started last week.

It took the intervention of the police to calm the situation by firing teargas at leaners.

Reports also reaching faceofMalawi indicate that students from HHI primary school, Ndirande Hill Primary and Blantyre Girls Primary school also held their demonstration.

Report says police also used teargas to disperse the angry students.
