Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that pupils from Nansengwe and Lunzu primary schools in Blantyre have blocked the road protesting against their teachers’ continued strike over delayed payment of leave grants and other outstanding grievances.
It is said that pupils are petting stones at vehicles and others are burning tyres disrupting traffic to and from Blantyre City.
The pupils are chanting “we also want to drive vehicles one day, so no vehicle will pass here until our teachers’ strike is called off and we are back to class”.
According to an eyewitness, police have just arrived at the scene and they are firing teargas at angry students.
