The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has obtained an injunction restraining its Secretary General Gustav Kaliwo from holding a party convention from July 7 to 9.
MCP Second Deputy Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka confirmed of the injunction in an interview with faceofmalawi reporter.
According to Mkaka, the convention staged by Kaliwo is against the Party’s constitution hence the injunction.
The Party argues that Kaliwo was supposed to formally put across to the party’s NEC the request for an emergency convention.
Meanwhile the Party has asked for the immediate resignation of Kaliwo, saying he is bringing confusion in the Party.
