Malawi’s award-winning rapper Tay Grin has begun his tour of South Africa and USA after leaving the country on Tuesday.
His first stop will be Secret Solstice Festival 2017 in Reykjavik, Iceland where he is expected to perform on June 17, 2017. He is expected to share the stage with American rapper Rick Ross.
“I am excited to represent Malawi and Africa in Iceland. I am glad with what I have achieved in the recent years and my performance in Iceland is what I have been waiting for,” Tay Grin said.
From Iceland, Tay Grin will perform in Johannesburg on June 24 and Pretoria on June 25. He will fly to United States of America to perform in Dallas, Texas on July 1 and South Bend, Indiana on July 8. Tay Grin will finish his tour with a performance on July 29 in Ireland.
Tay Grin has won a number of local and international awards which include Channel O’s Best Collabo or Duo 2009 with the video ‘My Type of Guy’ which features Buffalo Souljah, Gal Level and DJ Waxxy; voted 2014 Most Influential Person by Hub Magazine UK; in 2014, Tay Grin won a Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA) award for Best International African Act.
In 2016, he won BEFFTA Star Award in the music category, Malawian urban artist and best video (UMP) and 2016 WatsUp TV Africa Music Video Awards Best Traditional Video award with Chipapapa which features Nigeria’s 2baba; and in 2017 he won three awards Best Male, Best Live and Best Video in the Nyasa Music Awards.
