Former Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Dr. George Chaponda has denied claims that he was behind the kidnapping of Rumphi East Member of Parliament Kamlepo Kalua.
Kalua told Parliament earlier this month that his Kidnap was arranged by Chaponda as a revenge for exposing him in Maize-gate scandal.
Speaking during a rally in Mulanje on Chaponda distanced himself and the family on the claims.
Chaponda said the story of Kamlepo was “made up” when the police declared he staged his abduction which made him to claim he had lost memory to shield himself.
“Nobody should put up with the kind of venom that my entire family is being subjected to over the recent times,” said Chaponda.
Turning to the maize-gate scandal, Chaponda said he is ready to defend himself in court once he is summoned.
