Government through Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholas Dausi has has quashed social media rumours alleging that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has fired Finance, Economic Planning and Development Minister Goodall Gondwe and Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale.
Speaking in an interview with state controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Dausi said the two are still executing their duties.
According to Dausi, the reports of the two being dismissed are “misleading, deceptive and fallacious.”
“Honourable Goodall Gondwe remains Minister of Finance and Economic Development whilst Mr Kalekeni Kaphale remains Attorney General,” said Dausi.
Faceofmalawi reporter on Thursday got reports that Mutharika has replaced Kaphale with Lawyer Tamando Chokotho.
According to reports, the replacement was due to the expiry of Kaphale’s term of office.
Mutharika appointed Kaphale and Gondwe just after the May 20, 2014 tripartite elections which saw the then President Dr. Joyce Banda being kicked out office.
