Members of Parliament on Thursday deviated from their usual business of passing bills and turned the National Assembly to a prayer house seeking God’s intervention on increasing road accidents.

According to National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera, over 900 people have been killed since January.

The whole issue was started by Karonga south MP Reverend Malani Mtonga.

Mtonga said the legislators were concerned with the rising number of accidents and he asked the house to spare some minutes in praying for a free Malawi.

Mtonga also led his fellow legislators in observing a minute of silence in honor of the departed souls.

Just after the prayers another accident happened at Gulliver involving a Toyota fortuner and two people died on the spot.

Meanwhile the driver of the car has been identified as Mr. Kanyenda.
