Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that National Registration Bureau (NRB) is reviewing remuneration for the 4,500 registration officers and supervisors running the national ID registration exercise.

NRB workers last week threatened to go on strike if their allowances are not hiked within four days.

In a statement issued on Friday signed by National Registration and Mass Identification System spokesperson Wisdom Chimgwede, all involved parties are committed to ensuring that the basic needs required by personnel to discharge their duties are fully addressed in line with the available resources.

The stakeholders have also expressed satisfaction with how the officers are performing their duties.

“All stakeholders greatly value the dedication and hardwork by all registration personnel and hope that this level of performance will be sustained until the end of the National ID Mass Registration campaign, for the benefit of people of Malawi,” reads the statement.

The registration officers receive K120,000 per phase while their supervisors get K150,000.
