A 31-year-old man from Machinjiri in Blantyre has committed suicide by hanging after he went for HIV test and found out he was positive, police confirmed.
The deceased who has been identified as Richard Chifuniro, was found hanging dead in his room by one of his relatives who went to give him food.
Assistant public relations officer for Limbe police station, Nhlane said, “It is true that a man by the name of Richard Chifuniro was found dead in his house after committing suicide.
“The deceased took his life after he was shocked with the news that he was HIV positive after a blood test.”
The news was reported to police who later took the body to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for a post-Morten.
The deceased hailed from Kalisiro village, Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu district.
