Information sourced by faceofmalawi indicates that opposition People’s Party (PP) under Interim President Uladi Mussa is currently on the move of forming an alliance with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP ahead of the 2019 tripartite elections.

This came to light on Saturday during the official welcoming rally of politician Sidik Mia to MCP by the Party President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera where some PP top officials were seen at the rally.

Some of the notable figures present at the rally includes; Roy Kachale, first born son to the former president Joyce Banda and Isaac Nyakamera.

When contacted for comment, PP Spokesperson Noah Chimpeni said the party is currently strategizing on the matter.

“In Parliament the party has already joined forces with MCP and we are now strategizing on how transforming the working relationship outside the August House,” said Chimpeni.

Information at hand indicates that MCP and PP have already agreed on fielding one presidential candidate to outsmart and dislodge President Peter Mutharika and his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Meanwhile MCP officials are yet to comment on the matter.
