The defence counsel representing former Agriculture Minister George Chaponda has applied to court to suspend his warrant of arrest.

The court is expected to make the ruling at 1:30 pm today.

The defence has filed three grounds to substantiate its case. It argues that the state through Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has blatantly as well as disobeyed terms and prescriptions contained in the warrant.

The defence counsel has also argued that the ACB has hugely undermined both the rule of law and the authority of the court.
