The body of late Mrs. Oline Jane Mkandawire, an in-law to the First lady Madame Dr. Gertrude Mutharika, has been laid to rest at Khwelewere Village, Traditional Authority Mzukuzuku in Mzimba.

Her Excellency the First lady attended the burial ceremony.

Late Mrs. Oline Jane Mkandawire died on Sunday 16th July in Lilongwe after suffering from cancer. She was Regional Manager of Malawi Posts Corporation for the North.

Speaking on behalf of Madam Mutharika, Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Grace Obama Chiuma said the first lady together with President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika were deeply shocked with death of Mrs Mkandawire.

Chiumia said the death of a wife is big brawl to any family.

During the funeral, Madam Mutharika abandoned her official seat and sat together with mourners.
