Some Malawi Congress Party (MCP) officials have demanded for an apology from Muhammad Sidik Mia over his remarks made in Chikwawa when he was being welcomed in the party.
Mia was quoted in his speech describing some top officials in the Party that they are lazy and he has joined the party to grab positions of the party.
“Anthu ena muchipani muno ndi a lebwedelebwede ndiye ine nditenga mpando wanthu otelowo,” Mia was quoted as saying.
Many people interpreted the statement as referring to the Party’s Vice President Richard Msowoya who is also the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The statement attracted mixed reactions and President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika described the remarks as discriminatory.
The fired regional chairman, Denis Nanthumba has demanded an apology from Mia, saying the remarks are unfortunate.
Nanthumba said Mia is a new comer and its unfortunate from him to start attacking party founders.
Meanwhile Mia is yet to respond on the call.
