Nkhunga Third Grade Magistrate Court in Dwangwa has fined K25, 000 a 28-year- man identified as Juma Chumachiyenda after being found guilty on running a liquor business without a permit.
The man was found at Dwanga Trading Centre on Thursday 20 July, selling liquor drinks without a permit at one shed behind Bongwe Rest House.
Among the beers he was found with were 200ml bottles of wow pineapple liquor, chibuku packets and a five litre of Kachasu beer.
In court, he pleaded guilty to the charge of illegal sale of Liquor under section 72(1) of the liquor Act and was commanded to serve a six-month jail term or pay the sum of K25, 000.
To escape the six-month jail term he opted to pay the K25, 000 fine.
Chumachiyenda comes from Dambule village, Traditional Authority Phambala in Ntcheu.
