Information sourced by faceofmalawi indicates that security guards at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) are demanding money from guardians for them to be offered a place to sleep.
According to one of the guardians at the hospital found in the children ward who opted for the condition of anonymity, said the guardians at the hospital are told to sleep at the guardian shelter which acts as a kitchen.
But the place is not conducive for a normal human being to sleep. The place according to the source contains bedbugs (Nsikizi).
“Due to this challenge, guardians resort in sleeping in hospital corridors and some opt in sleeping in wards together with patients.
“For one to sleep in the said places he/she has to pay MK50.00 to security guards per night or you risk being chased out,” said the source.
Effort to talk to officials at QECH proved futile on the matter.
